The State Fair
Virginia Anne had so much fun on her first visit to a state fair. Momma, Daddy, and I took her last week and she could not seem to get enough of all of the lights, sounds, and people. Jeff was traveling, but we missed him terribly! When we first got there, Ga (Daddy) decided thtat the first order of business would be to ride on the merry-go-round. Virginia Anne and Ga had so much fun! Of course, Duck got to ride too. Virginia Anne truly enjoyed waving at Momma and me each time they "rode" past us on the horse. After supper, we headed over to the petting zoo to see the animals. We finally made it over after having to stop to watch all of the rides go by. There was one that was a dragon rollercoaster for little people and each time the dragon passed by where we were standing, Virginia Anne would just clap and laugh and wave to all of the children on the ride. It was absolutely priceless. However, the best was yet to come. We went through and saw all of the animals, and then we found the ducklings...and I truly thought that we would not be able to get Virginia Anne away from them! She was absolutely enamored with watching them go down the slide and then climb back up the ramp. When it was time to leave, she stopped and waved to them four or five times, telling them "bye" each time. It was so sweet watching her squat down to really have a look at the ducks and her fascination with them. Whenever I think about her first state fair, that is the image I will always carry with me...her amazement and wonder at watching the ducks. After picking a duck and winning a purple moose, yes, a purple moose, we all shared an ice cream cone dipped in chocolate (that Ga is still raving about), it was time to go home. Another highlight of the night was running into our friends Zack and Riley Ann. Zack even shared his candy apple with Virginia Anne. After a busy day, she quickly drifted off to sleep on the way home, but not before letting everyone know that the duck says "quack!"
